Knights sign 2 to extensions

-

The Golden Knights gave out their third and fourth contracts in August by signing center Jake Leschyshyn and left wing Paul Cotter to three-year extensions Saturday, the team announced.

Knights sign Leschyshyn, 23, was a restricted free agent this offseason. He had six points in 41 games as a rookie in the NHL last year and another 27 in 34 American Hockey League games. His contract carries an average annual value of $766,667.

Cotter, 22, was set to be a restricted free agent next summer. He scored two goals in seven NHL games and had an additional 34 points in 59 games with the Silver Knights. His deal has an average annual value of $775,000.

Both extensions are for the NHL minimum’s salary. Cotter’s contract is worth more because it starts in 202324, when the minimum salary rises from $750,000 to $775,000.

The team does still have one restricted free agent to sign in defenseman Nic Hague. Ben Gotz Las Vegas Review-journal
