CHARLES GALLAGHER

-

Charles H. Gallagher of Grants Pass, OR, formerly of Chicago, IL, Indian Head Park,

IL, and Las Vegas, NV, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, August 5, 2022, after visiting with his

family.

Charles (Charlie), 80, was born June 15, 1942, in Chicago, IL to Thomas Charles and

Eleanor (nee Wagner) Gallagher. He graduated from Notre Dame High School, paying his own tuition, caddying. He built a life with his first wife, Barbara Ramsey, raising two children and starting several successful businesses, including E&R Coating, Inc. in Chicago. Later in life he married Peggy Mcmahon.

He loved all things Vegas and eventually

bought his dream home with a view of the Strip. An avid sports fan and sports gambler, he created his own "sportsbook" room with 10 TV'S. He loved movies, music, art, fine dining, and gardening.

He was a practical person with common sense, who was the patriarch of the Gallagher family. He had a great sense of humour, was generous to a fault, and could always be counted on to help friends and family. He valued forgiveness and never gave up on people.

He was a fighter until the end who never gave up or gave in to defeat. He said of himself, "I made it on my own and stood on my own two feet." He was an example

to us all with his courage, loyalty, and determination.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Thomas (Tommy) Gallagher, and his sisters Andrea Wire and Catherine Holst, and his grandson Wyatt (Yogi) Gallagher-gassen. He is survived by his sister Julia Keating of Glenview, IL.; and his daughter Allegra Wakest Lamb (nee Bonnie Gallagher) of Grants Pass, OR and his son Michael Gallagher of Surprise, AZ.; and his grandsons, James, Kevin, Zachary, Anthony, and Spencer; and nephews Patrick Wire of Crystal Lake, IL and Daniel Wire II of

Palatine, IL.; his niece Wendy Gallagher of Bay City, MI and nephew Tommy Gallagher of Bay City, MI.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Grants Pass, OR on September 26, 2022. In lieu of flowers,

please generously support the Lewy Body Dementia Association (online at: lbeda.org.) Live every day as if it were your last, for there is no assurance of tomorrow. As Charlie liked to say, "Carpe diem".
