MIKKA JOAN MOON

- Sign guestbook at obituaries.reviewjournal.com

Mikka J. Moon always spread sunshine to everyone around her, and

her positive impact has brightened the community and lives of her friends and family. Mikka, 70, of Las Vegas, passed away August 13, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Montana, to Michael and Joan Boka, her parents moved the family

to Las Vegas in 1960. Mikka had an exceptional love for music and played the flute and piano regularly for the family. While working in retail sales and attending UNLV, Mikka met Robert Moon, and they were married in 1974. Using the knowledge Mikka gained working in formal wear sales, and seeing the opportunity to open their own business, Mikka and Bob opened Tuxedo Junction formal wear store in 1978. Over the years they received numerous accolades for their support of charities and education. Their

daughter, Monica, was literally raised in the business. Mikka and Bob had a storybook marriage until Bob passed away in 2006. Mikka continued to operate the store and support the community. The Clark County Commissioners proclaimed March 2, 2010, as "Tuxedo Junction-lv Day", which also included receiving recognition from the City of Las Vegas and congratulations from the Nevada Governor. After 37 years of operating Tuxedo Junction, Mikka retired and sold the store.

Mikka was a loving wife and mother and a great friend to all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Monica (Bob Burks); loving companion Greg Stanley;

stepson Robert Moon (Belinda); stepson John Moon (Leslie); brother Michael Boka (Doris); sister Monica Boka (fiancé Joe Greber); six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was very much loved and will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, she wanted others to simply spread kindness to others; or donations can be made to any charity of your choice. Services will be private.
