QB Willis tosses TD for Titans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Rookie Malik Willis threw his first NFL touchdown pass, helping Tennessee beat Tampa Bay 13-3 on Saturday in the Titans’ preseason home opener.

Willis, a third-round draft pick from Liberty, was 7 of 17 passing for 80 yards and a TD and ran five times for 42 yards. The Buccaneers (0-2) sacked Willis three times. Tennessee (1-1) held a 145-95 edge in first-half yards of offense and scored 10 points off turnovers. The teams failed to convert their first nine third downs combined.

■ Lions 27, Colts 26: At Indianapolis, Godwin Igwebuike had seven carries for 32 yards, including a 2-yard TD run with 4:03 left that put Detroit (1-1) ahead to stay. Jack Coan threw a 26-yard TD pass to fellow rookie Samson Nacua with 38 seconds left for Indianapolis (0-2), but Coan’s 2-point conversion pass fell incomplete. Dezmon Patmon had five catches for 103 yards, including a 50yard TD, for the Colts.

■ Steelers 16, Jaguars 15: At Jacksonville, Fla., rookie Kenny Pickett was 6 of 7 passing for 76 yards and a TD for Pittsburgh (2-0) and is 19 of 22 for 171 yards in the preseason, with three TDS and no turnovers. Big-ticket free-agent wide receiver Christian Kirk had five catches for 54 yards in his debut for Jacksonville (0-3). Trevor Lawrence was 14 of 21 passing for 133 yards for the Jaguars.

■ Bills 42, Broncos 15:

At Orchard Park, N.Y., Josh Allen was 3 of 3 passing for 45 yards, including a 28-yard TD to wide receiver Gabriel Davis, in his lone drive for Buffalo (2-0). Zach Moss and Duke Johnson each ran for two TDS for the Bills in their 10th straight preseason win. Brett Rypien was 22 of 26 passing for 191 yards and a TD for Denver (1-1), which yielded 510 yards of offense.

■ Chiefs 24, Commanders 14: At Kansas City, Mo., Patrick Mahomes was 12 of 19 passing for 162 yards and two TDS, both to tight end Jody Fortson, in two drives for Kansas City (1-1). Carson Wentz played three series for Washington (0-2) and was 6 of 9 passing for 64 yards.

■ 49ers 17, Vikings 7: At Minneapolis, Nate Sudfeld was 13 of 17 passing for 102 yards, including a goahead TD pass in the fourth quarter, for San Francisco (2-0). Kellen Mond was 10 of 20 passing for 82 yards with two interceptions for Minnesota (0-2).
