JUDITH ANN HODGE

-

Judith "Judy" Ann

Hodge died in the early morning hours of August 15, 2022 at

her home in Las Vegas. In her words, she "crossed the Rainbow Bridge" to be reunited with her late husband, Walden "Sonny" Hodge, and countless beloved family pets. She was 87 years old.

Judith Ann Hart was born on Valentine's Day 1935 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Anna "Ann" Louise Schall and Vincent Hart. Judy was joined by a sister, Gail, in 1939. She spent her formative years on the family farm in Michigan until the family

relocated to Tucumcari, New Mexico in the 1940s. She met her future husband,

Sonny, at the age of twelve. Judy's high school years were colored by weekend dances in and near Tucumcari, and Sonny was often her date and ride. The pair

married in November 1953.

They welcomed their daughter, Deborah, in November 1954, and not long after, Sonny's work took the new family of three to El Centro, California, then to Las Vegas in 1955. Their second child, Robert, was born in 1957, and their third child, Marc, entered their lives in 1959. Their youngest, Jeffrey, surprised them in 1969.

In 1964, the family moved to Paradise Valley, where Judy kept a comfortable home for her family, complete with horses, dogs, and cats. After she welcomed her four grandchildren into her life, her house became a second home to all of them, serving as a backdrop to pool parties, Easter egg hunts, and rollicking New

Year's Eve sleepovers.

A consummate cat lady, Judy never met a feline she didn't like. She dedicated decades to spaying and neutering neighborhood cats, adopting those who stole her heart, and making donations to animal charities. She kept and loved many cats and dogs throughout her life, too

many to list.

Judy leaves behind her four children, Deborah "Dee" (Michael) Campana, Robert Hodge, Marc (Kelly) Hodge, and Jeffrey (Brooke) Hodge, all of Las Vegas; four grandchildren, Jennifer Hodge; Zoann (Francis Keyser) Campana, Ryan Hodge, and Matthew Campana; two great -grandchildren, Natalie Hodge and Florian Keyser; a sister, Gail Mitchell of Citrus Heights, California; a sister-in-law, Golda Lee Bogard of Clovis, New Mexico; and three cats, Frosty, Grey Guy, and Little Mama.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Walden "Sonny" Hodge; her mother, Ann Stewart; her father, Vincent Hart; and dozens of cherished family pets.

Judy never understood why someone would want bouquets or other arrangements of "dead flowers." The family asks that her preferences in life be honored in death as well: in lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to honor her memory may donate to Alley Cat Allies.
