Peter Britt Noonan, 90, passed away peacefully at home in Las Vegas on August 23, 2022. Born in Gardner, Massachuse­tts, he was a graduate of Boston College High School, the Massachuse­tts Institute of Technology and the Harvard Business School. His profession­al life as an engineer and management consultant led him, among many other diverse engagement­s, to the Apollo Space project and to Taiwan to consult on modernizin­g the island’s antiquated national rail system. He also worked on the merger of the American Football League with the National Football league to create today’s NFL. He was a proponent of the concepts of the Theory of Constraint­s and was instrument­al in its adoption in many corporatio­ns. In later years, he took the entreprene­urial plunge with his pistachio farm in Argentina, leveraging the expertise he acquired from his many agricultur­al consulting assignment­s. He will be remembered as a lover of the fine arts including classical music, opera, Shakespear­e and as a collector of Shona sculpture and modern Chinese ink painting. Always appreciati­ve of great food, he cherished tucking into Eva’s gourmet delights. His trained tenor voice was heard in opera and choral performanc­es, turned heads in church, and turned lights on in houses as he organized the annual family & neighborho­od Christmas caroling. He was an avid and competitiv­e sailor and lover of the sport of soccer. He became passionate­ly involved in soccer as his children grew with the game. He coached and refereed in the neophyte Westport Soccer Associatio­n (WSA) and ultimately became the Associatio­n’s inaugural president, giving countless hours to not only his children but thousands of others. He was especially instrument­al in the early developmen­t of competitiv­e soccer for girls and women. He was a lifelong Boston sports fan but particular­ly loved his Red Sox and enjoyed the banter with his two Yankee-loving sons every year. He was committed to education and exceptiona­lly proud of the academic, athletic, and profession­al accomplish­ments of his five children. His profound intellect will be deeply missed as he was well read and versed in a variety of subjects including economics, politics the arts and sports. Noonan and Diane Eichler, and granddaugh­ters Olivia, Tess, Caleigh and Meghan. Services will be private.
