LEO NELS DURANT

Leo N. Durant passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 11th, 2022. Leo was born December 10th, 1944, to Donald and Rexine Durant in Mason

City, Iowa. He graduated from Forest City High School, Class of 62, and continued his education at Iowa State University, graduating Class of 67, with a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting and Economics.

Leo then serviced his Country as a 2nd Lt in the United States Marine Corp. He is a decorated Vietnam Veteran, receiving the Purple Heart and other Unit Commendati­ons Awards. Leo moved to Las Vegas from Iowa in 1970 and founded LND Constructi­on Company in 1978. Leo and LND completed numerous projects, ranging from TI'S to 70,000 sq. ft. warehouse complexes, and five apartment buildings. Leo served as an Officer and Director on the Boards of the Bank of Las Vegas, The Las Vegas Country Club and Las Vegas Chapter of the AGC, and was awarded AGC Contractor of the Year in 1999. He also served as President for The Leathernec­ks of Nevada, Inc, The Nevada Subcontrac­tors Assoc., and Sunrise Villas HOA. Leo's volunteer work was extensive and included The Boys & Girls Club, Candleligh­ters, Safe Nest and Shade Tree just to mention a few. He was an avid golfer, and loved traveling abroad to play golf with his friends. Leo had no strangers in his circle of friends. He was a loving, generous, and fun man to be with, and he will be missed immensely. Leo is preceded in death by his mother, Rexine J. Durant, father, Donald R. Durant, and his beloved younger sister, Ledonna Ree Durant. He is survived by his wife Jenny Durant, and his "Little White Dog", LULU. Military Service will be held at The Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery, Thursday, September 15, 2022, 2:00 pm.

Located at 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, Nevada. A Celebratio­n of Life to follow, at The Las Vegas Country Club, 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Located at 3000 Joe W. Brown Dr, Las Vegas, Nevada.
