Mich. governor kidnap attempt no ‘fake deal’

A group of men conspired to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. Two of them pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges and agreed to testify against their co-conspirators. Last week, the two ringleaders of the plot were convicted by a jury of domestic terrorism. One of them was also found guilty of a separate explosives charge related to the plot.

Prosecutors described their actions as a rally cry for a civil war. Yet, former President Donald Trump called the kidnapping plan “a fake deal.” That statement shows the contempt Trump has for the American people.
