Braves reliever concussed from line drive to temple

Atlanta reliever Jackson Stephens was placed on the seven-day injured list with a concussion sustained Friday when a line drive struck his right temple in the ninth inning of the Braves’ loss at St. Louis. The ball ricocheted into shallow right field as Stephens remained on his feet. The 28-year-old right-hander has a 3.89 ERA in 44 innings this season.

■ Padres: Adidas ended its relationsh­ip with shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. in the wake of the 23-year-old’s 80-game suspension for testing positive for a performanc­e-enhancing drug. Tatis, the majors’ first player to amass 80 homers and 50 steals in his first 300 games, joined Adidas in 2020 and received his own signature shoe.

■ Guardians: Drummer John Adams, who has provided a steady, rallying beat during Cleveland games for 49 years, was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame. Adams, 70, first toted a bass drum that he bought at a garage sale for $25 into the bleachers as a 21-yearold on Aug. 24, 1973.

■ Red Sox: Second baseman Trevor Story (right wrist fracture) was activated after being sidelined since July

13. The 29-year-old two-time All-star, in the first season of a six-year, $140 million deal, is hitting .223 with 15 homers and 58 RBIS.
