NICHOLAS J. RANIERI
Nicholas J. Ranieri, 83, of Las Vegas passed away on August 18, 2022 surrounded by his family. Nick, Nicky Ray, or Pops as he was called by his grandchildren, was born on July 2, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to Nicholas and Helen Ranieri. He was an entertainer who had a booming voice and big personality. He played the bass and moved out West with his band the Satellites, eventually settling in Las Vegas where he performed on Fremont Street and the famous Las Vegas strip. Nick was an entrepreneur who ran many successful business ventures in Nevada and California. Above all else, Nick loved his friends and family. Each morning he had a cup of coffee or Courvoisier and turned on some tunes with his friend Ernie. He enjoyed talking on the phone whether it was just to check in, give his latest political commentary, discuss his latest deal or simply stay on the phone while watching a western on TV. He told adventurous stories of his life and
travels. The place he loved the most was Laguna Beach where he lived for many years with his beloved Maja Doherty who
preceded him in death. Nick is survived by children Nick (Cindy), Shirley, and John (Miriam); step-children David and Krista (David); grandchildren Zach, Sasha, Jacob, Leanna, Linde, Maja, J.P. and 4 great-grandchildren.
