Volleyball team rallies past St. John’s to stay unbeaten
Isabel Martin had 16 kills and Chloe Thomas 14 to lead unbeaten UNLV past St. John’s 22-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-15 in a nonconference volleyball match Saturday at Cox Pavilion. Jhenna Gabriel had 36 assists for the Rebels (5-0), who hit .301. Rachele Rastelli had 14 kills and Wiktoria Kowalczyk 37 assists for the Red Storm (3-3), who hit .180.
■ Cross country: At Fullerton, Calif., sophomore Natalia Ruiz Lara placed second out of 167 runners in 17:39.3, 9.4 seconds behind Cal State Fullerton junior Mckaylie Caesar, in the seasonopening 5-kilometer Mark Covert Classic Invitational. The Rebels were 10th out of 14 teams.
