LIGHTS GAME REPORT

-

Saturday Tampa Bay 6, Lights FC 1

At Al Lang Stadium, St. Petersburg, Fla.

■ RECAP: The Lights continue to get lit up, allowing a season high in goals for the second consecutive week. Leo Fernandes scored twice, including a goal in the 66th minute that answered one by the Lights’ Cal Jennings to give the Rowdies a 4-1 lead. Jordan Scarlett, Jake Lacava, Steevan Dos Santos and Lucky Mkosana also found the back of the net for Tampa Bay, which hadn’t scored six goals in a USL match since last season’s playoffs. The Lights have only one win in their past eight matches to fall below .500, and they’ve fallen apart on their own end of the field, allowing 11 goals in their past two matches. The Lights were outshot 24-3.

■ RECORDS: Lights (10-11-7); Tampa Bay (165-6)

■ IN THE NETS: Lights goalkeeper Abraham Romero stopped four shots on target, while Rowdies goalkeeper CJ Cochran saved one shot. He was aided by a defense that blocked nine shots.

■ ALSO: As expected, the Rowdies held statistical dominance. There were 15 shots taken in the box, and all of the them came of a Rowdies’ foot. Tampa also took all 10 of the match’s corner kicks and held possession for more than 70 percent of the contest. Each team was called for 12 fouls and two yellow cards.
