Janice Marilyn Mommeny, of Las Vegas, passed away August 13, 2022, at Nathan Adelson Hospice. Janice was born December 10, 1934 in Seward, NE. Janice met her husband Alfred in 1962 in Las Vegas, they married shortly after. She was employed at the Stardust Hotel and Casino for 35 years as a PBX Operator, where she met several lifelong friends. Janice loved to travel, her and Al went to Hawaii four times and to Europe where they visited nine countries in 14 days. They also traveled all over the United States, visiting friends and family. Janice was a firm believer that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior and that he died on the cross for her sins. She was an active member of her church First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, belonging to the LWML and Alter Guild. She is survived by her husband, Alfred Mommeny daughter, Rebecca and sonin-law, Michael Novak; son, Paul Mommeny; sister, Karen Gottberg; sister and brother-in-law, Blanche and Richard Laferriere; grandchild­ren, Philip Mommeny, Heather Novak and Aaron Novak; great-grandchild­ren, Zariah Gallegos and Lily Novak and Lisa Mommeny and Steven Mommeny; and also, her nieces and nephews of Nebraska and their children. May she always be remembered as the loving and gentle soul we called Janice, Mom, Sister and auntie Jan. May she rest in peace in the Lord’s house until we meet again. Services will be at 11am Wed., Sept. 14, at First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 301 S Marylandpp­kwy, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Additional services will be at 10am Thu., Sept. 15, at the Veterans Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr., Boulder City, NV 89005.
