John Francis Babcock Jackson, of Las Vegas, passed away unexpected­ly August 27, 2022. He was born in June 1954 in Big Spring, TX to Francis Edward “Ed” Jackson and Margaret Ann Babcock Jackson. John was the oldest of seven children. John (“JJ”) attended Bishop Gorman High School, lettering in baseball and bowling. He graduated in 1972. John attended UNLV and was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He graduated in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. He worked for the Borsack family beginning at age 16 at El Portal Luggage, then ultimately Panbor, until his death. John began as a stockboy, worked his way up to manager and then as Regional Vice President of Human Resources, and in recent years had cut back work hours in anticipati­on of retirement. John was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Margaret Ann; and his sister, Carolyn. John is survived by his daughters, Alison Warren, Karen Jackson, and Julie (Deandre) Harris; grandchild­ren; Riley and Rider Warren, Brayden and Aubrey Lozada, and Damari, Dasean and Jayla Harris; brothers, Jerry (Kitty), Jim and Eddy Jackson; sisters, Mary Ann (Celeste) and Kathleen “Bunny” Jackson; nieces and nephews, Krystal, Jeremy, Joey, Alyssa and Sophia; ex-wife, Janie O’callaghan; as well as many extended family members. John loved golfing, bowling, baseball and traveling, as well as fishing and skiing in Brian Head, UT, with his family. Services will be at 1pm Thu. Sept. 29, at the Community Lutheran Church, 3720 E. Tropicana, Las Vegas. A celebratio­n of life will follow.
