Dr. Mark H. Ashcraft, 72, of Henderson, passed away at his home September 6, 2022. Mark was born in Louisville KY, the first child of J. Morris and Bernice Ashcraft. He met the love of his life Mary Homerin at Grinnell College and they married in 1971. After earning his PHD in Psychology Mark served as Psychology Department Chair at Cleveland State University and then at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Mark published textbooks (Human Memory and Cognition; Cognition) which are still used in college classrooms today and is remembered especially for his research on math anxiety and cognition. Mark retired in 2020 after over 40 years of teaching and was named Professor Emeritus at both CSU and UNLV. Mark is survived by his wife of 51 years Mary Homerin Ashcraft; his son Jordan Mark Ashcraft and daughter-in-law Jami Ashcraft of Gig Harbor WA; his daughter Laura Ashcraft Liss of St. Louis, MO; his sister Anna Ashcraft and brother-in-law Warren Johnson of Galena, IL.
