Lower nets one-shot lead at Fortinet Championsh­ip

Justin Lower weathered the wind and birdied the 18th hole to cap a 3-underpar 69 for a 13-under 203 total to take a one-shot lead into the PGA Tour’s season-opening Fortinet Championsh­ip’s final round in Napa, California. Defending champion Max Homa (72) and Danny Willett (72), the second-round co-leaders, were tied for second. Lower, 33, seeking his first tour title in his 29th start, holds his first 54-hole lead.

■ DP World: At Guidonia Montecelio, Italy, reigning U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatric­k shot 2-under 69 in windy conditions for a 10-under 203 total and a one-stroke lead over Rory Mcilroy (71) and Aaron Rai (65) entering the DS Automobile­s Italian Open’s final round. UNLV product Kurt Kitayama (67) and two others were two shots back.

■ LPGA: At Portland, Ore., Ayaka Furue and Andrea Lee each shot 5-under 67 to tie second-round co-leader Lilia Vu (69) for the Amazingcre Portland Classic lead at 13-under 203 entering the final round. Four players were one stroke back.

■ Champions: At Sioux Falls, S.D., Jeff Maggert shot 4-under 66 to tie firstround leader Robert Karlsson (68) for the Sanford Internatio­nal lead at 10-under 130 entering the final round. Rocco Mediate (67) was one stroke back.

■ LIV: At Sugar Grove, Ill., Cameron Smith had two 7-foot birdie putts to cap a 4-under 68 for a 10-under 134 total and a two-shot lead over Dustin Johnson (73) entering the Invitation­al-chicago’s final round.
