Foothill product Madris acquired by Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay claimed outfielder/first baseman Bligh Madris off waivers from Pittsburgh and optioned the 26-yearold Foothill product to Triple-a Durham. Madris made his major league debut with the Pirates this season, hitting .177 in 123 plate appearances over 39 games. He hit .294 with an .848 OPS over 71 games with Triple-a Indianapolis in 2022.
■ Yankees: Right-hander Frankie Montas (right shoulder impingement) was sent for an MRI examination. The 29-year-old, who has a 6.35 ERA in eight starts with New York, was sidelined July 3-21 with a shoulder issue while with Oakland. He had a 3.70 ERA in six seasons with the Athletics.
