LIGHTS GAME REPORT

-

Saturday

Hartford Athletic 3, Lights FC 0

At Trinity Health Stadium, Hartford, Connecticut

■ RECAP: Hartford leading scorer Ariel Martinez netted two goals in the first 28 minutes as the Lights continued to falter. They have just one victory in their past nine matches and have been outscored 14-1 during a three-match losing streak that’s put their USL postseason hopes in jeopardy. Both of Martinez’s goals came in the 6-yard box, and Tom Brewitt capped the scoring in the 79th minute as the Lights failed to capitalize on their chances. Hartford won its third in a row and is unbeaten in its past five.

■ RECORDS: Lights (10-12-7); Hartford (9-15-6)

■ IN THE NETS: Lights goalkeeper Abraham Romero stopped one shot on target, while Hartford goalkeepers Yannik Oettl and Jimmy Slayton combined to stop five shots.

■ ALSO: The Lights came in rested — their match Sept. 10 at home against Monterey Bay was postponed because of what the team called “unplayable field conditions” on social media. That match has been rescheduled for Sept. 27 at Cashman Field. Making their longest trip of the season Saturday, the Lights held a 14-10 advantage in shots and earned eight corner kicks to Hartford’s seven. The Lights were called for three of the match’s four yellow cards.

■ NEXT: vs. San Diego, 7 p.m. Saturday at Cashman Field
