Aces 10, Aviators 3 Las Vegas Ballpark

■ RECAP: Reno right-hander Brandon Pfaadt struck out 10in5 ⅔ innings in pitching the Aces to victory. Pfaadt (5-1) had struck out a combined 17 batters in his previous two starts.

■ RECORDS: Aviators (70-76), Reno (81-63)

■ AT THE PLATE: The Aviators managed five hits and two runs off Pfaadt, including Zack Gelof ’s third home run of the season, a solo shot in the second inning. Tyler Soderstrom went 3-for-4 for the Aviators. … Dominic Canzone paced the Aces with a 2-for-3 night, including a two-run homer, his 16th of the season, in the first inning. Blaze Alexander added a bases-empty blast in the second, his first of the season, and Sierra Vista product Jake Hager had three singles.

■ ON THE MOUND: Mason Miller (0-1) took the loss, lasting two innings and giving up Canzone’s and Alexander’s home runs.

■ DUGOUT CHATTER: With Saturday’s loss, the Aviators are guaranteed to finish with a losing record, their first since 2017 (56-86) and just their second since 2011 (71-73). … The Aviators’ home finale will be against the Aces on Sunday. They are 3-8 on the current 12-game homestand. … The season will conclude with three games at the Sacramento River Cats on Monday through Wednesday.
