ALICE OILER
Alice passed away September 3, 2022 from heart failure and will be missed beyond
words by her sister, “Jo” in San Diego. She
will be Dearly Missed by family and friends
in Las Vegas as well as Ohio – She was Loved by ALL! Alice Mae was born May 1, 1941 in Lancaster, OH to Alice and Clarence E. Bope of Lancaster. She attended Lancaster High School, and following graduation in 1959, entered a 3year diploma program at Grant Hospital School of Nursing in Columbus, graduating with the class of 1962. After receiving her Nursing degree Alice was employed as an RN in the Emergency Room at Mt. Carmel East, Columbus, Ohio until moving to Las Vegas, in 1974. Alice had an extensive career as an ER Nurse at Sunrise and Valley Hospitals. Other employment of which she was most proud of included: Utilization Review Specialist at the Montevista Hospital and in registration for Las Vegas Convention Visitors Authority for 18 years. She was a member and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church and sang in the Chancel Choir. In 2003, as a part of the church’s 50-year anniversary, she traveled with the choir to England, Scotland, and Ireland as part of the Musical Mission to Great Britain. This trip along with other excursions with family and friends enriched her life. Alice had an overwhelming passion for
baseball, especially the San Diego Padres. She enjoyed swimming along with many visits to the ocean. Alice adored and had a true love for cats; especially
Princess, Scamper, Panther. Alice was also a member with the Mesquite Club Choir and Organ Society and also participated in the Nevada Opera Theatre as time permitted. Alice was predeceased by her sister, Betty Jean & niece, Sabrina Cotterman. Also, her husband Gary of 57 years. She will be greatly missed by her siblings: Clarence & family (Lancaster, Oh), Paul & family (Wichita, Ks) and her sister, Marybeth
and family (San Diego, CA). Alice will be also missed by her sister In-law, Joyce Bailey & husband, Phil in Columbus, Oh., along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins, esp. Roger in Circleville, OH.
Services will be at 11am Tue., Nov. 1, at Grace Presbyterian Church. Donations in Alice’s memory can be made to your local humane society.
