Pair of Aces power U.S. to World Cup basketball gold

A’ja Wilson scored 19 points, and fellow Aces All-star Kelsey Plum added 17 as the United States beat China 8361 in Sydney to win its 11th women’s World Cup gold medal and fourth straight. The victory margin set a record for a title game, surpassing the 20-point spread the U.S. had done twice. The Americans (8-0) have won 30 straight World Cup games. China (6-2) won its first medal since 1994.

■ MLB: Reigning MVP Shohei Ohtani will make $30 million in 2023 after he and the Los Angeles Angels agreed to a one-year deal to avoid arbitratio­n. The deal is the largest for an arbitratio­neligible player. Ohtani, 28, who is making $5.5 million this year, will be a free agent after 2023.

■ Volleyball: At Cox Pavilion, Gabrielle Arretche-ramos had 20 kills on .455 hitting to lead UNLV past San Diego State 25-15, 25-19, 25-27, 25-22. The Rebels (12-3, 3-1 Mountain West) hit .331; the Aztecs (4-11, 2-2) hit .222.
