RANDALL HARDY PIKE

-

Randall Hardy Pike passed away unexpectedly on September 27, 2022 at age 67. Randy adored his family and was, first and foremost, a loving husband, father, Papa, son, brother, and friend. He will be remembered for his zest for life, care for others, love of entertaining, and sense of adventure.

Randy was born in Salt Lake City but raised in Las Vegas, graduating from Valley High School in 1973. Following graduation from Brigham Young University, he followed in the footsteps of his father to become a lawyer. Randy graduated from Pepperdine University School of Law and clerked on the Nevada Supreme Court for Justice Noel Manukian before a nearly 40-year legal career in Las Vegas as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, and public defender. Randy ended his career as the Assistant Department Head to the Special Public Defender for Clark County, where he focused on defending those accused of murder. Randy was driven by his belief that everyone has redeeming qualities and deserves robust defense. This led him to spend time interviewing his clients’ families to gain empathy and improve his ability to keep them from receiving the death penalty. A lover of

theatre, Randy always found ways to include a Shakespeare quote in his opening

or closing arguments.

But what mattered most to Randy was his family, serving others, and enjoying life. As a young father, Randy served as a Scout Master and taught his boys respect, hard work, and how to have fun. He was a leftover food magician and master griller; he made sure no one ever left his house hungry. He and his wife, Cindy, enjoyed traveling and were fortunate to travel often, including visits to their children and grandchildren. Randy treasured each of his 12.5 grandkids and kept active so he could play with them in the pool and in his beloved backyard. More than one grandchild inherited Papa’s mischievous smile and the twinkle in his eye.

Randy is preceded in death by his mother, Julia (Mac) Mcmasters, and father, Douglas Pike. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Pike; children: Dustin Pike, Amanda (Steven) Haymore, and Emily (Peter) Andrew; stepchildren: Matt (Nicole) Macpherson, Lisa Pike, and Troy (Nicole) Macpherson; brothers: Raymond (Valerie) Pike, Bob (Monica) Pike, and Doug (Julie) Pike; grandchildren: Morgan, Elle, Taylor, Miles, Lincoln, Charlotte, Ethan, Chase, Clara, Lucy, Asher, and Graham.

A Celebration of Life will be arranged for a future date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Women’s Development Center at www.wdclv.org, the charity that Randy worked closely with for many years.
