LIGHTS GAME REPORT

-

SATURDAY

Lights FC 3, Miami FC 2

At Cashman Field

■ RECAP: Don’t turn out the power on the Lights just yet. Danny Crisostomo (66th minute) and Cal Jennings (78th) netted goals after the Lights took advantage of an own goal, and they kept their playoff hopes alive with a victory in their final home match of the regular season. Winning for the second time in three matches after shaking off a malaise, the Lights (44 points) are tied for eighth place in the USL’S Western Conference with New Mexico United. Each are two points behind the three teams currently holding down the last three spots in the playoff race — Rio Grande, Oakland and El Paso. New Mexico has an advantage because it has three matches remaining — everyone else has one.

■ RECORDS: Miami FC (14-9-10); Lights (12-13-8)

■ IN THE NETS: Lights goalkeeper Abraham Romero made six saves, while Jake Mcguire made two stops for Miami

■ ALSO: Christian Torres assisted on Jennings’ goal following a fast break. Miami, which got goals from Joaquín Rivas (69th) and Florian Valot (84th), held a 20-11 advantage in shots and held the majority of possession. Each team was called for two yellow cards.

■ NEXT: At LA Galaxy II, 7:30 p.m. Oct.
