The family of Charles "Don" Combs, of Las Vegas, announced his peaceful passing on October 7, 2022, at the age of 88. He was born November 19,1933, in Vincent, KY to Charles "Chuck" and Florence Combs. The family moved to Cincinnati, where Don and his sister, Dixie, grew up. He was a butcher by day and mechanic and street racer by night, hence his love for cars. In 1957, Don moved to Las Vegas, bought a gas station on the strip, opened a gun ghop next to the Silver Slipper and joined the Metropolit­an Police Department. He was a fast draw expert and marksman, competing at the Showboat for several years. Don went to work selling Porsches, VWS and Audis for 24 years, before opening his own dealership. He was in the insurance and bail bonds business and owned a property management company for 37 years. His word or handshake was as good as gold. Don was also a member of the Elks, Knights of Columbus. He was a gentle soul to everyone and most certainly will be missed. Don is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Gladys; sons, William, Sammie and Daniel; daughters, Debbie and Lisa; 10 grandchild­ren; and numerous greatgrand­kids He was preceded in death by his father, Charles; mother, Florence; sister, Dixie; and grandson, David. Viewing will be at 1pm Wed., Oct. 26, with services following, both at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89123. Donations can be made to Catholic Charities of Southern NV.
