ANNA MARIE VASQUEZ

-

Anna Marie Vasquez, aged 60, passed away as the result of health complications on October 4, 2022 in Henderson, Nevada. She was surrounded by her loving family and had a smile on her face at the time of her passing.

Anna was born on July 5, 1962 and was a lifelong resident of Las Vegas before retiring to Henderson, Nevada. She graduated from Southern Nevada Vocational Technical Center [Votech] in 1980 with a certification in data entry. Moving forward she attended college at UNLV, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice upon graduation in 1987.

Anna worked as an officer of the Clark County Court System for nearly 40 years, beginning in 1980 when she was instrumental in establishing pre-trial services with a Local Educational Agency grant. She dedicated her life to improving and streamlining the criminal justice pre-trial services in Southern Nevada, making it a more fair & equitable system for all. She continued to share her wealth of knowledge with her peers and helped to facilitate trainings for District Attorneys and court administrators throughout the country even after retiring as the Court Division Administrator over Pre-trial Services in January of 2019.

Anna enjoyed living life to the fullest and spending time with those she adored. She took pleasure in traveling, wine-making, and relaxing evenings at home watching television with her beloved pets, Lulu and Felicia. She was well known for her love of penguins, lemons, and all things Disney.

Anna began a lifetime of service and community outreach within the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls at age 11. During her teenage years, Anna was a Worthy Advisor of Daylite Assembly #22 and a Grand Officer for Nevada Grand Assembly. Upon receiving her majority at age 20, Anna became an active adult leader serving as Mother Advisor and later Grand Deputy of Daylite #22. In adulthood she was a member of North Star #33, Order of the Eastern Star.

Anna spent many years as Director of Rainbow Camp, organizing an annual event for Rainbow Girls throughout Nevada. She was awarded the Grand Cross of Color, the highest honor in the organization, because of her strong commitment to service and generosity. For 40 years Anna treated countless Rainbow Girls as if they were her own daughters and there are many strong, kind, and confident women who were fortunate to be mentored by her.

Anna is survived by her siblings Juliana Shugart [Bret], Monica Smith [Mark], Phillip Vasquez [Jennifer], Pauline Egbert [Chris], & John Paul Silva; her nieces and nephews Chila Poling, Jeremy Hunt, Evan Egbert, Jenna Egbert, Violet Egbert, Desiree Smith, Lauren Smith, Jared Smith, Keegan Vasquez, Aidan Vasquez, Brianna Shugart, & Bruce Shugart; her aunts and uncles Chila Silva, Emily Silva, David Silva & Inez Sanchez among many others.
