Lights FC 1, LA Galaxy II Dignity Health Sports Park

■ RECAP: The Lights got the help they needed earlier in the night when Oakland lost at Pittsburgh, but they fell short in a must-win situation. The draw ended their chances of reaching the USL Championsh­ip playoffs for the first time time in their five seasons. Danny Trejo netted his team-high 14th goal of the season for the Lights to tie the match in the 33rd minute. In the 15th minute, Cameron Dunbar scored for LA Galaxy II in what turned out to be their only shot on frame.

■ RECORDS: Lights (12-13-9); LA Galaxy II (11-16-7)

■ IN THE NETS: Lights goalkeeper Abraham Romero played the entire match and wasn’t credited with a save, while Eric Lopez made three saves for LA Galaxy II.

■ ALSO: Despite the disappoint­ment, the Lights set a franchise record with their 12 wins (the 2019 club finished 11-15-8). The Lights held a 14-8 advantage in shots, taking 11 from inside the box. Oakland (46 points) took the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, with the Lights, who finished with two wins and two draws to make matters interestin­g down the stretch, one point back in ninth. Julian Gaines assisted on Trejo’s goal, which came from close range following a corner kick.
