Raiders’ keys to victory
1. Kill their will
The Colts have every reason to look ahead to next season. They had lofty playoff aspirations but are 3-5-1 after dealing with significant injuries. Their coach, Frank Reich, was fired this past week and replaced by former Colts center Jeff Saturday, whose only coaching experience is at the high school level. Should they fall behind, it might be easy to accept the loss and head back to Indianapolis. But should they hang in the game, their talented roster could get on a roll. The Raiders can’t let that happen.
2. Tame Taylor
Jonathan Taylor is one of the NFL’S best running backs, even if his 2022 stats suggest otherwise. He has failed to eclipse 76 rushing yards in a game since posting 161 in the opener. The Raiders can’t allow him to break loose because he’s capable of igniting the dormant Colts offense.
3. Last stand
The Colts score touchdowns on just 44 percent of their drives in the red zone, ranking 31st in the NFL. The Raiders haven’t been stout in that area, also ranking 31st by allowing touchdowns on 74.1 percent of drives inside the 20. The Colts are particularly inept on the road, where they have scored touchdowns on 25 percent of red-zone drives.
