Political media missed the story

-

I’m reading articles from The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Reuters, Associated Press, New York Post, Wall Street Journal and others washing their hands of their prognostications for the midterm elections.

For months, news organizations ignored the real fight for democracy — abortion, voting rights, climate, fascism, conspiracy theories, hypocrisy and just plain lies.

The press covered inflation — a Trojan horse of an issue — and made America think about it every single day.

The party that touted high crime was responsible for passing laws allowing everyone to have a gun unchecked. But the press let them get away with the narrative.

We finally have a president with a qualified Cabinet doing business normally, but the press jump on the sausage-making instead of the final product. It’s made kingpins of two mediocre senators who stonewalled their own president and party for selfish gain. It headlined the secondary issues of inflation and crime in place of the issue of saving democracy.

The press has been missing in action for a long time.
