Rodgers, Martin in tie for one-shot RSM Classic lead
Patrick Rodgers ran off four straight late birdies and finished with a par save in a 6-under-par 64, giving the 30-year-old a share of the RSM Clasic lead with Ben Martin (65) at 14-under 198 entering the final round in St. Simons Island, Georgia. Rodgers hasn’t won in 226 PGA Tour starts. Adam Svensson (62), Sahith Theegala (68) and second-round co-leader Andrew Putman (69) were one stroke back, and 10 players were within two shots of the lead. Eight of the top players on the leaderboard have yet to win on the PGA Tour.
■ LPGA: At Naples, Fla., Leona Maguire had four straight birdies around the turn and added two late birdies in a 9-under 63 to tie Lydia Ko (70) at 15-under 201 for a five-shot lead entering the CME Group Tour Championship’s final round. At stake is $2 million to the winner, the richest prize in women’s golf and nearly twice what Maguire has made in 23 previous events.
■ DP World: At Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Jon Rahm shot a bogey-free 7-under 65 for a 15-under 201 total and a one-stroke lead over Matt Fitzpatrick (70) entering the final round of the season-ending Tour Championship. Topranked Rory Mcilroy (65) is three shots back and in position to finish as the tour’s top player for a fourth time.
