About the Lady Rebels (3-0): UNLV continued its strong start to the season Wednesday, beating Utah State 82-38 at Cox Pavilion. Junior center Desi-rae Young led the Lady Rebels with an efficient 16 points in 23 minutes, while sophomore Alyssa Brown added 15 points off the bench. Senior wing Justice Ethridge scored only six points but also contributed eight rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. UNLV beat CSU Bakersfield 7156 last season behind 22 points from Young.

About the Roadrunners (11): CSU Bakersfield has been on the road since its season started. The Roadrunners were blown out by Southern California 86-41 in their season opener but responded with a 56-53 win at Fresno State on Nov. 11. Sophomore forward Hennie van Schaik, junior guard Shaunae Brown and redshirt freshman guard Sophia Tougas scored in double figures, and Bakersfield held Fresno State to 12 percent shooting on 3-pointers. The Roadrunners went 6 of 9 from 3 in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 28-11 during the period.
