-

Kylian Mbappe scored two goals to put defending champion France into the World Cup’s knockout stage with a 2-1 win over Denmark on Saturday.

Mbappe gave France (2-0-0) the lead in the 61st minute and then scored the winner in the 86th with his right thigh as France became the first team to advance to the round of 16.

The France forward swapped passes with Theo Hernandez down the left flank and poked the ball past goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel for the first goal. He then jumped acrobatically to guide in the second after a cross from Antoine Griezmann.

Defender Andreas Christensen scored on a header in the 68th minute for Denmark (0-1-1).

■ Poland 2, Saudi Arabia 0: Robert Lewandowski assisted on Piotr Zielinski’s 40th-minute goal and scored in the 82nd, helping Poland (1-0-1) keep alive its chances of advancing. The 34-year-old Lewandowski’s goal was his first in a World Cup in his fifth tournament appearance. Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny saved Salem Al-dawsari’s penalty kick late in the first half and then blocked Mohammed Al-burayk’s shot on the rebound. Poland next faces Argentina (1-1-0), and Saudi Arabia (11-0) will meet Mexico (0-1-1) in their last group games.

■ Australia 1, Tunisia 0: Mitchell Duke scored on a header midway through the first half, and Australia (1-10) notched its first World Cup win since 2010 and first shutout since its tournament debut in 1974. Australia next meets Denmark with a chance to advance. Tunisia (0-1-1) next plays France (2-0-0).
