MIRIAM “RUTH” LONG March 21, 1928-December 27, 2022

Ruth Long passed away peacefully December 27, 2022, at her son’s home, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Ruth was born March 21, 1928 in Johnson City, IL to Lawrence and Thelma Hampsey. She met and married her second husband, William “Bill” Long in 1954. They moved their family to Las Vegas June 1959, where they lived the rest of their lives. Ruth worked as a showroom waitress at the “Lido” at the Stardust from 1960 to 1976 and then as a part-time buffet food server at the Aladdin and Palace Station until she retired. Prior to her illness, Ruth owned and operated and elderly care business out of her East Twain home. As a life-long animal lover, she was a member of the American Kennel Club and bred and sold chihuahua puppies (her babies.) She loved her family (and her puppies) unconditio­nally. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Paul Stamps; second husband, Bill Long; his son, Gary; brother, John; and three sisters, Anita, Patsy and Donna. She is survived by her son, Robert “Bob” Stamps; brother, Jim Hampsey; grandchild­ren Paul and Shana; great-grandchild­ren, Allysa, Samantha, Zachary and Ajay; and great-greatgrand­children, Grant, Colson and Sara. Viewing will be from 10am-4:30pm Thu., Jan 5, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 N Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89101. Graveside services will be at noon Fri., Jan 6, at Bunker’s Memory Gardens Memorial Park, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89129. Family requests flowers be delivered to Bunker’s Mortuary Thurs., Jan. 5th from 9am to 4pm.
