STEPHEN LUTHER WILSON

Stephen Luther Wilson, 74, of Las Vegas, passed away peacefully January 20,2023 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born May 8, 1948 in Ann Arbor, MI to James William Wilson and Lucille Rose Wilson (nee Ceelig.) Steve’s father was Postmaster of Ann Arbor and his mother was an elementary school teacher. When Steve was nine years old, his father died unexpectedly and he became the man of the family, helping his mom at home while maintaining good grades in school. Steve graduated from Ann Arbor High school in 1966 and thereafter enrolled in the University of Michigan. He could always be seen tooling around Ann Arbor in his 1966 Chevy SS396 Chevelle. During his youth, he loved bowling, and outdoors, it was snowmobiling and boating, spending most of his free time at their cabin in upper Michigan. But his life passion became the game of golf and Big Blue Football. Graduating from Michigan in 1970 with a BS in Education and Business Management, Steve began his career with the Bechtel Corporation in Ann Arbor as a Discipline Quality Engineer. A career change brought him to Allied Van Lines in Ann Arbor in the air freight sales department. Steve’s golf clubs were always in his trunk and by the time he relocated to Las Vegas, with wife Judy in 1978, as Sales Manager for Las Vegas Transfer and Storage/agent for Allied Van Lines, he was a scratch golfer. His mother passed in 1988 in Las Vegas. An opportunity arose with the Transfer’s sister company, United Exposition Services as its National Sales and Transportation Manager, where he traveled extensively to various convention sites overseeing building, dismantling and transportation of convention trade show exhibits. To all his wives, he loved you all, but Judy always held a “special” place in his heart. Various health issues forced him into retirement in 1998, but he still maintained his passion for golf. He also invested in various business adventures, a tavern and a moving company, and was a member of Kiwanis Club International. He loved his friends at the local Elks Lodge and especially all his pals at the Four Kegs Sports Pub. And a very special thank you to Helen and her special angels at Dorothy Graham’s Care Home for making Steve’s final days as comfortable as possible. Steve leaves behind many cherished memories. We will miss him dearly and with a smile we say, "Geez Oh Pete’s! Rest in Peace, Palley!" Steve will be interred at Palm Mortuary Eastern. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at a later date.
