James Dale Brecher (Jim) of Las Vegas, NV, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born in rural Pekin, IL on January 8, 1933 to Frank and Viola Brecher. He graduated from Pekin High School in 1950 and Bradley University, Peoria, IL, with a degree in chemistry in 1955. Jim entered the the U.S. Air Force and completed pilot training in 1956; flew and instructed in the T-33, F-84F, and the F-4 fighter aircraft, flew a year in Vietnam, and after 28 years retired in 1984. He then worked for Cubic Defense Systems till 2001. Jim was a member of the Daedalian, the National Fraternity of Military Pilots. He loved a good round of golf, downhill skiing, music and all types of food. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Viola Brecher, sister Betty Demasters, brother Sodie Brecher, all of Pekin, Illinois, and son James G. Brecher and daughter Tara B. Brecher, both of Phoenix, AZ. Jim is survived by his loving wife Fumiko Brecher of Las Vegas, NV, daughter Alisa Oujiri (Steve) of Cave Creek, AZ, daughter-inlaw Becky Brecher of Peoria, AZ, four grandchild­ren Ghislaine (Aaron), James Matthew (Jacqueline), Benjaman (Jessica) and Callie (Matthew) and five great-grandchild­ren James Logan, Vivienne, Hunter, Annabelle and Madison. He was a man of deep faith and worshiped at the Community Lutheran Church of Las Vegas, NV. His family will miss his good and generous heart and his tough, independen­t spirit. His memorial service and interment will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
