Texas A&M surges past No. 2 Alabama

COLLEGE STATION, Texas —

Wade Taylor scored 28 points as No. 24 Texas A&M beat No. 2 Alabama 67-61 Saturday, making its late free throws after Crimson Tide standout Brandon Miller fouled out.

The Crimson Tide (26-5, 16-2 SEC) played the last two minutes without Miller, who scored 19 points. The Aggies (23-8, 15-3) led 32-22 at intermissi­on after limiting Alabama to its fewest points in a half this season.

Texas A&M led 59-57 when Miller fouled out. The Crimson Tide lost for the first time in five games since courtroom revelation­s tied Miller and teammate Jaden Bradley to the scene of a fatal shooting. Neither has been charged or accused of a crime, but then-teammate Darius Miles and another man are facing capital murder charges.

Kansas 59: At Austin, Texas, Sir’jabari Rice scored 23 points for the Longhorns (23-8, 12-6 Big 12), who halted a seven-game win streak by the Jayhawks (25-6, 13-5).

■ No. 6 Marquette 96, St. John’s 94: At Milwaukee, Kam Jones scored 23 points for the Golden Eagles (25-6, 17-3 Big East) in their sixth straight win and 11th in 12 games. The Red Storm (1714, 7-13) trailed by 10 with 21 seconds left.

■ Iowa State 73, No. 7 Baylor 58: At Waco, Texas, the Cyclones (18-12, 9-9 Big 12) halted a four-game skid in their first game since UNLV transfer Caleb Grill was dismissed for “failing to meet program expectatio­ns.” The Bears (22-9, 11-7) matched their season scoring low.

■ West Virginia 89, No. 11 Kansas State 81: At Morgantown, W.VA., Erik Stevenson had 27 points to lead three 20-point scorers for the Mountainee­rs (18-13, 7-11 Big 12). The Wildcats

(23-8, 11-7) led by 10 in the first half.

■ Auburn 79, No. 12 Tennessee 70: At Auburn, Ala., Wendell Green Jr. scored 24 points for the Tigers (20-11, 10-8 SEC), who dealt the Volunteers (23-8, 12-6) their fifth straight road loss.

■ No. 16 Miami 78, No. 25 Pittsburgh 76: At Coral Gables, Fla., Wooga Poplar hit six 3-pointers and totaled 18 points for the Hurricanes (24-6, 15-5 ACC), who gained a No. 1 conference tournament seed. The Panthers (21-10, 14-6) were outrebound­ed 42-20.

■ Seton Hall 82, No. 20 Providence 58: At Providence, R.I., Dre Davis scored 24 points for the Pirates (17-14, 10-10 Big East), who shot 63 percent. The Friars (21-10, 13-7) trailed by as many as 32 points.

■ Oklahoma 74, No. 22 Texas Christian 60: At Norman, Okla., Tanner Groves had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Sooners (15-16, 5-13 Big 12), who shot 50 percent. The Horned Frogs (20-11, 9-9) were outrebound­ed 40-26.

■ Southeast Missouri State 89, Tennessee Tech

82, OT: At Evansville, Ind., Chris Harris scored 26 points for the Redhawks (19-16), who won the Ohio Valley Conference tournament title to reach their first NCAA Tournament in 23 years. Diante Wood had 24 points for the Golden Eagles (16-17), including a desperatio­n turnaround jumper at the regulation buzzer that forced overtime.

Mountain West

■ Utah State 86, Boise

State 73: At Logan, Utah, Taylor Funk scored 24 points for the Aggies (24-7, 13-5), who shot 57 percent. The Broncos (23-8, 13-5) trailed 47-33 at halftime.

■ San Jose State 63,

Air Force 61: At Colorado Springs, Colo., Omari Moore scored 33 points for the Spartans (19-12, 10-8), who overcame a 14-point halftime deficit. The Falcons (14-17, 5-13) didn’t lead after Moore’s go-ahead shot with 1:02 left.

■ Fresno State 108, Chicago State 69: At Fresno,

Calif., Jemarl Baker scored 40 points on 12-for-13 shooting, including 9-for-10 on 3-pointers, for the Bulldogs (11-19). The Cougars (11-20) trailed 51-38 at halftime.

Women

■ No. 14 Ohio State 79, No. 2 Indiana 75: At Minneapoli­s, Rikki Harris hit a goahead layup with 38 seconds left for the Buckeyes (25-6) in a Big Ten tournament semifinal. The Hoosiers (273) blew a 24-point lead.

■ Tennessee 69, No.

4 Louisiana State 67: At Greenville, S.C., Rickea Jackson scored 26 points for the Lady Volunteers (2310), who reached their first Southeaste­rn Conference tournament title game since 2015. The Tigers (28-2) blew a 17-point lead.

■ Louisville 64, No. 10

Notre Dame 38: At Greensboro, N.C., the Cardinals (23-10) limited the Fighting Irish (25-5) to 31.4 percent shooting and forced 22 turnovers in an Atlantic Coast Conference tournament semifinal.
