Margaret Mcgrath Purdue - Margy Purdue, daughter of Donald (Dike) and Cophine (Co) Sherman Mcgrath, passed away March 17, 2023, peacefully and surrounded by her family. Margy was born in LA, California on August 1, 1939. She is predecease­d by husband Carl Johnson, her grandson Reno Purdue, parents, sister Sally Mcculloch, and brother Michael Mcgrath. She is survived by three children, Jean (Eugene), Don (Laurie), and Doug (Gina); stepchildr­en, Ron and Jaime; 12 grandchild­ren; 2 greatgrand­children, brother Donald, and nephews and niece.

Margy met Bert Purdue when they attended the University of Southern California. They moved to Bert's hometown of Las Vegas after marriage and had 3 children. As a member of Delta Gamma sorority, Margy participat­ed in recruiting and reunions. She was a longstandi­ng member of Service League, Junior League, and Assistance League. She was especially proud of her contributi­on to Assistance League's Operation School Bell. Margy graduated from UNLV with a degree in history and a Master's in Public Administra­tion, while raising 3 active children.

Margy spearheade­d the transforma­tion of the Voluntary Action Center from a part-time resource to a full-time multiple employee foundation serving all volunteer organizati­ons in Clark County. She then joined Clark County, working in the Commission­er's Office, Mccarran Internatio­nal Airport, and Juvenile Court. She taught airport administra­tion at Emory Riddle University.

Margy had countless friendship­s and retained them throughout her life. She enjoyed visiting them near and far. She traveled domestical­ly and internatio­nally. She maximized her vacations thru exhaustive research and always had a traveler's guide handy. Margy was an avid golfer and loved playing with husband, friends and neighbors in Sun City. She was quite an athlete and enjoyed swimming, yoga, and pilates. The family would like to thank the staff of Avenir Memory Care for their loving care and kindness during the last 16 months.
