CANDACE “CANDY” KRAUSMAN

Candace “Candy” Marie (Shelton) Krausman passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, September 17th, 2023.

A graduate of Rancho High School, class of 1965, and attended Brigham Young University, she was a lifelong learner with an entrepreneurial spirit, starting multiple small businesses. Truly, there was nothing she couldn’t find a way to accomplish, whether it was perfecting the art of bread making, award winning quilting, or authoring a book. She received accolades for her dedication to the Las Vegas community, including the Silver Beaver for Scouting and the Nevada American Mother of the Year.

A real-life Mary Poppins, Wonder Woman, Martha Stewart, all rolled into one person who, above all, devoted her life to family, service, and faith. Candy was also a great lover of music, from mastering the piano at any early age, to lifelong lessons on the organ and also accomplished choir director of the old and the very young. She found joy in Leonard Bernstein, Chopin, Debussy and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Finding your Roots was a favorite of her programs, which celebrated the years she devoted to family history and the voracious knowledge she acquired while doing genealogy. She had always held onto a small paper she wrote, taped inside a kitchen cabinet that simply said, “I am going home” and no doubt, she is. Candy joins her sweet husband, Gary of 53 years in heavenly peace and is survived by her daughter, Megan Jones (Justin); son, Bryce; as well as her brothers, Thom (Helen Margaret) and John (Cindy); and sister, Pami (Rocky) Lange. She was an adored “Mimi” to her two grandchildren; a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews; and a cherished neighbor and friend to too many people to count who were influenced for good by her example.

A celebration of life will be held on what would have been Candy’s 76th birthday, October 6th, 2023 at Noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6601 W. Twain Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89103. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. Family and friends are invited to sign an online memorial guest book at www. starmortuary.com
