NANCY ESTELLE SPRAGUE
Nancy Estelle Sprague, born on March 30, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts made herwaytolasvegasintheearly 1960s. Nancy passed away on August 10, 2023, at St Rose Dominican Hospital San Martin. Nancy Sprague's life and career are a testament to the power of advocacy, community engagement, and innovation. Her unwavering commitment to equality, volunteerism, and the well-being of seniors has made a significant impact on the Las Vegas community and beyond. Sprague's achievements serve as an inspiration for others to make a difference and leave a legacy which has earned her the respect and admiration of her peers. In the early years of her career, Sprague worked as an accounts payable supervisor at a Las Vegas casino. She developed a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic that would serve her well in her future endeavors. For the decade 1984-1994, Nancy served as the Marketing/public Relations Director for the Las Vegas YMCA. During her tenure, she played a crucial role in increasing awareness and participation in the organization's programs for which she received the National YMCA Award for Marketing Excellence. Continuing her commitment to public service, she was appointed Deputy Director in Las Vegas for the Department of Commerce Commissioner of Consumer Affairs Division 1995. In this role, she worked tirelessly to protect consumer rights and promote fair business practices. Nancy's passion for equality and justice led her to become the Nevada Regional Coordinator advocating for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment. Her dedication to this cause was instrumental in raising awareness and garnering support for gender equality. In recognition of her expertise and dedication, Sprague was appointed as a Delegate to the White House Conference on Aging. This prestigious position allowed her to contribute to important discussions and policy decisions regarding the welfare and well-being of senior citizens. Among her many accomplishments, Sprague in 2002 was awarded the IABC Las Vegas Bronze Quill Award "Communicator of the Year". This recognition highlights her excellence in the field of marketing
& public relations, showcasing her ability to effectively communicate and promote causes and organizations. At the age of 70, Nancy's dedication to improving the lives of seniors truly shines through her role as the Co-founder and Co-executive Director of ITN Las Vegas Valley. ITN is an organization that provided over 25,000 transportation services specifically designed to meet the needs of older adults. Her vision and leadership have transformed the way seniors access transportation services, ensuring their independence and quality of life. Along the world of business, Nancy enjoyed a hidden talent outside the boardroom. A tournament poker player by night, with a unique twist: she loves to have her beer in a champagne glass. For Nancy, the champagne glass represents celebration, elegance, and a touch of extravagance. It's a reminder that life is not just about work and competition; it's also about finding joy and embracing it. For her lifetime, she has been a dedicated supporter of numerous women's advocacy groups and PBS.
