Roderick "Roy" Thomas Spenner, Sr., 57, passed away August 11, 2023, in his home in Amargosa Valley, NV. He was born September 30, 1965, in Blue Island, IL to Robert Carl Spenner, Sr and Diane Marie (Lusson) Spenner. He grew up in Michigan and had a childhood full of fond memories. He joined the Air Force and served his country for 20 years. He was stationed in Spangdahle­m, Germany, Warner Robins, GA, Utah Test and Training Range, UT, Nellis AFB and Nevada Test and Training Range, NV. He worked on F4 Fighter jets in Germany as a Structural Engineer, served on a special Depot Aircraft repair team in GA, and ultimately transition­ed into a career in Informatio­n Technology in the military and in government contractin­g. When at 99 Services Squadron at Nellis AFB he created a program to help with Mortuary Affairs documents that is still used today across all military branches. He received the Airman’s Medal of Heroism for jumping a 10 ft fence to rescue a young lady from a burning car accident. He started an audio-visual company, POP AV, in Las Vegas, managing it for over 15 years and having a great time supporting musicians and entertaine­rs. He was an admirably hard worker but he still loved to laugh. He also loved riding his Harley when he could. Roy was a loving father and friend that will truly be missed. He is survived by his children, Roderick T Spenner, Jr, Rex C Spenner; their mother, Camille W Spenner; his partner, Samantha Cattell; mother, Diane Spenner; brothers, Robert C Spenner, Jr (Donna) and Jamie C Spenner (Pam); sister, Tina Whitworth (Jeff) and many nieces and nephews. Celebratio­n of life will be 6-8pm Sat. Sept. 30, at the Draft House 4543 N Rancho Dr, Las Vegas. Services will be at 2pm Tue. Oct. 3, at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Boulder City, NV.
