Don’t turn US into Russia

- Nancy Kleinkopf, Henderson

For many years, the United States has gravitated toward a subtle and sinister upheaval threatening our country. Trust in Congress and the Supreme Court has nosedived. My top grievances are:

1. The former president wants to be reelected, and is the Russian president’s protégé.

No patriot of this country would bend over for a dictator or praise communist leaders while ridiculing U.S. military personnel and anyone who’s called them out. We the people don’t need or want a president who lies, whines, cheats, steals, assaults, brags and disparages others. Once evicted, he should stay evicted. Remember, stripes never change on a tiger (predator), hyena (scavenger) or skunk.

2. Far-right militias and extremists are Russian KGB wannabes.

Why else would these nonpatriots amass weapons and ammunitions, flaunt them and attempt to intimidate others? If they dislike American democracy and can’t stomach the U.S. Constitution, they should move. Immigrate to Russia, North Korea or anywhere else.

3. U.S. billionaires and uber-millionaires are replicating the Russian oligarchy.

Shame on owners, CEOS, corporations, et al, that overcharge for housing, food, utilities, etc., only to wallpaper their mansions with excess shrinkflation funds and greed. They own too many lawmakers and knew the Reagan-era trickle-down effect was a pun in the making.

Americans must wake up before our country’s population becomes as stifled (or worse) and fearful as the Russian people. Do something — vote — to preserve the patriotic American way of life.
