At New York, Carmelo Anthony scored a season-high 45 points, Jason Kidd hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer with 24 seconds left, and New York rallied from an early 17-point deficit to edge host Brooklyn, 100-97. Andray Blatche scored 23 points in place of Brook Lopez (right foot sprain), who missed his sixth straight game for the Nets, who lost their fifth straight.

At New Orleans, Jordan Crawford had 26 points to help Washington beat New Orleans 77-70 and spoil the return of top draft pick Anthony Davis. Davis, who missed 11 games with a stress reaction in his left ankle, had 13 points and seven rebounds for the Hornets, who led by as many as 13 points and didn’t trail until the fourth quarter.

At Chicago, Blake Griffin had 22 points and 10 rebounds to help Los Angeles top Chicago 94-89 for the Clippers’ seventh straight win, their longest win streak since an eight-game run in 1991-92. Carlos Boozer had 24 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulls, who had won five of their past six.

At Auburn Hills, Mich., Ty Lawson had 26 points, seven assists and five rebounds to lead Denver past Detroit, 101-94. Brandon Knight had 20 points and five assists for the Pistons, who led by 17 points in the first quarter.

The NBA suspended Toronto center/forward Amir Johnson for one game without pay for throwing his mouthpiece at a referee in the Raptors’ loss at Portland on Monday.

“We played very uninspired basketball, offensively and defensively,” said coach Mike D’Antoni, brought in to repair an underachieving squad after Mike Brown was fired five games into the season. “We play at a very slow pace, and we struggle. Maybe it shifts over to defense. Maybe we’re slow. Maybe we can’t do it. It’s my job to fix it, and that’s what I’ll do.”
