Head-on collision kills two east of Carson City

-

Two people were killed in a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver Sunday on U.S. 50 just east of Carson City.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said a car driven by 34-year-old Jason Cloutier of Carson City was going east in the westbound lanes when it collided with an oncoming car.

Troopers said a female passenger with Cloutier and the other driver were killed. Their names were not immediately released.

Cloutier was taken to a Reno hospital, where he was in serious condition.

Troopers said alcohol appeared to be a factor in the 3:30 a.m. accident.

An investigation continues.
