Terry Bradshaw jittery over debut

-

Don’t be surprised if Terry Bradshaw calls some audibles this weekend during his debut as a Las Vegas headliner. He’s already worried that his two-night shows at The Mirage, “America’s Favorite Dumb Blonde — A Life in Four Quarters,” may be too structured.

“I’m a wingy, dingy, dingy kind of guy,” said the former NFL quarterback turned TV host turned Las Vegas entertainer.

“I don’t even write notes for the Fox pregame show. I create thoughts,” he said during an interview Monday.

He’ll be on a new stage, and he admits, “My friends think I’ve lost my mind.”

Former teammate “Mean” Joe Greene checked in before Monday’s rehearsal and was stunned to hear the news.

“I told him (evangelist) Billy Graham said, ‘If you retire, you start dying.’ I’m proud of myself. I’m still buying land and horses, and I’m still trying stuff. Keeps you young and invigorated.

“I’m proud of myself. I’m 64 years old. Nobody can say I don’t have a set of kahunas,” he said. And, yes, that’s how he pronounced it, maybe to clean it up for family newspaper consumption.)

At least two of his co-hosts on Fox NFL Sunday — Jimmy Johnson and Howie Long — are coming in to support Bradshaw. “We got 20-some from the ‘Tonight’ show,” he said, plus others from his Fox show.

NBC talk show host Jay Leno gave him some advice the other day. “He said, ‘Take a break and ask two or three questions.’

“People aren’t coming to see Robert Goulet or Jack Nicholson or Jack Benny,” Bradshaw said.

“This isn’t showcasing vocals. This is showcasing a song.”

And to celebrate a well-lived life. SIGHTINGS
