Tenaya Creek has new location

Brewery’s new digs, set to open soon, are five months late

The wait is almost over for the grand opening of Tenaya Creek Brewery’s bigger, better location.

You’ll know the time has come because you’ll see a 40-foot silo, holding 60,000 pounds of grain and barley next to Interstate 15 at Bonanza Road.

No later than September — about five months behind schedule — Las Vegans will be able to enjoy one of the brewery’s craft beers inside the fully renovated 13,000-square-foot building at 831 W. Bonanza Road, owner Tim Etter said.

He estimates the new facility will foster 70,000 kegs of the company’s six yearround and 20 seasonal brews a year. That’s about eight times the amount currently being produced at the existing location, 3103 Tenaya Way, near the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue.

Etter says, too, there is room to grow.

“We’re going to get to the point we can’t make enough beer,” Etter said of the west valley setup, which originally opened in 1999.

The current operation is unable to meet demands running at full capacity, prompting the move.

Vons, Albertsons and Whole Foods are among local retailers that carry the bottled product locally. Stores in Arizona, Southern California and parts of Canada do as well.

beers will be available from “Day One,” he added.

The 1½-acre lot sits across from a block of empty buildings. But not for long, Etter said.

“Without a doubt … we’re going to generate our own traffic and encourage more development across the street,” he said.

Perhaps a restaurant will be developed, since food will not be served inside the brewery’s 2,000-square-foot tap room and retail space.

Until then, Etter says guests are encouraged to bring food along or have something delivered.

About 60 people are working to com- plete the project, including the primary builders from Tradewinds Construction.

Etter says all of the brewery’s current employees are invited to come along, and that it’s likely more will be hired in the future. Contact Kimberly De La Cruz at kdelacruz@ reviewjournal.com or 702-383-0381. Find her on Twitter: @KimberlyinLV.
