Summerlin adds fourth community center

Large facility will be in the Vistas Park

Summerlin is adding a fourth community center to its long list of amenities. The under constructi­on 7,900-squarefoot Vistas Community Center in the Vistas Park on Park Vista Drive will offer meeting rooms and a pool for residents and their guests.

The Vistas Community Center is slated to open later this year. It will feature a 5,692-square-foot pool with a slide and a child’s lagoon featuring frog fountains. The center will also house meeting rooms and a kitchen for gatherings of all kinds.

“Community centers are a pivotal element to Summerlin’s design in creating an active lifestyle for residents” Summerlin marketing director Danielle Bisterfeld­t said.

“From educationa­l, fitness and social classes to camps of all kinds, community centers offer residents a comfortabl­e and accessible gathering spot in their own neighborho­od to have fun. Since the community’s inception, community centers have a played a role in fostering Summerlin’s strong social fabric, so we are excited to soon welcome yet another facility to the community,” she said.

Besides Summerlin’s three existing community centers, which offer classes and activities for adults and children,

Summerlin is also home to Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, owned and operated by the city of Las Vegas and built by The Howard Hughes Corp. It is a public facility that includes an indoor pool, gym and dance studio.

Summerlin’s community centers round out a list of amenities that includes more than 150 parks, more than 150 miles of interconne­cted trails and dining, shopping and entertainm­ent options, including the 106-acre Downtown Summerlin.
