League reinstates Dolphins’ Jordan on conditional basis

-

The NFL reinstated Miami Dolphins defensive end Dion Jordan on a conditional basis following his yearlong suspension for violations of the substance-abuse policy.

Jordan, 26, can become eligible for Week 1 of the regular season after a follow-up meeting with the NFL.

Jordan, the third pick in the 2013 draft, had been suspended indefinitely since April 2015 without pay following multiple substance violations.

■ RAIDERS — Linebacker Aldon Smith, who is serving a one-year suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, has entered a treatment center. NOTES

Although it is not yet known what Smith, 26, is being treated for, the news comes a few days after a Periscope video showed an unidentified man and woman having a conversation about a hand-rolled cigarette.

■ TITANS — Veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson agreed to terms with Tennessee.

Sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that Johnson will sign a two-year contract.

Johnson, 35, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection, ranks eighth in NFL history in receptions, ninth in receiving yardage and 13th in touchdown receptions.

■ BILLS — Wide receiver Sammy Watkins was among 10 Buffalo players not cleared for the start of training camp.

Watkins, 23, is recovering from April surgery to repair a broken bone in his left foot and was placed on the active/physically unable to perform list.

■ GIANTS — After missing all of last season and being limited to six games over the past two with knee and calf injuries, wide receiver Victor Cruz was a full-go as the team held its first practice at training camp.

New coach Ben McAdoo said Cruz, 29, will be monitored, and his workload will be adjusted if necessary.

■ LIONS — Detroit signed corner back Darius Slay to a four-year, $50.2 million contract extension, with $23 million guaranteed.

Slay, 25, started all 16 regular-season games for the Lions in each of the past two seasons.

■ BENGALS — Linebacker Rey Maualuga passed his preseason physical and was cleared to practice.

Maualuga, 29, had been placed on the active/non-football injury list on Tuesday. He had dealt with hamstring issues and had to sit out the majority of Cincinnati’s offseason work.

■ EAGLES — Philadelphia signed running back and return specialist Darren Sproles to a one-year, $4.5 million contract extension.
