Lexus dealerships collect books for Louisiana schools devastated by flooding

-

In an effort to help families devastated by severe flooding in Louisiana, Lexus of Las Vegas and Lexus of Henderson are accepting book donations for students K-12 in the city of St. Amant and town of Sorrento, Louisiana.

Collection boxes have been set up near the parts departments at both Lexus dealerships. The Lexus of Las Vegas dealership is located at 6600 W. Sahara Ave. The Lexus of Henderson dealership is at 7736 Eastgate Road.

More than 60,000 homes have been damaged by flooding in Louisiana, 30,000 people have been rescued and more than 2,600 residents are currently residing in homeless shelters. The Department of Education in Louisiana has closed 24 school districts.

“Our hearts go out to the flood victims in Louisiana who have been left homeless and are now relying on the generosity of the caring public for food and shelter,” said Lee Butler, chief operating officer of Ascent Automotive, the parent company of the Southern Nevada Lexus dealerships. “We want the families in Louisiana to know that Lexus and communities throughout Southern Nevada are here to help their children with book donations at both our dealerships.” ROBBY FINDLAY LAUDS FINDLAY TOYOTA EMPLOYEES

In the past six months, the workforce at Findlay Toyota has bounced back from the death of its general manager and part owner, Rich Abajian, to record strong results, according to new Findlay Automotive Group Operations Director Robby Findlay.

Abajian was a prominent automobile executive and was also highly recognized for his talent as a motivational speaker. When he died of cardiac arrest in February, Findlay Toyota employees had to scramble.

“Everyone was so close to Rich, and they all respected his vision and his work ethic,” said Findlay, who previously served as general manager of three Findlay dealerships in Flagstaff, Arizona. “There was an initial drop after Rich’s death in February, but everyone pulled together realizing that the best way to pay tribute to Rich was to work harder and make the dealership better every day.”

Needless to say, there was intense pressure to perform under very trying circumstances. Robby Findlay pointed out that evidence of the recovery is that Findlay Toyota recorded more than 5,000 sales of new vehicles in 2015 with the same amount of sales expected in 2016.

In addition, the dealership has been honored by the Toyota Board of Governors to receive the President’s Award and the President’s Cabinet as one of the top 10 Toyota dealerships in the country.

“We have continued to be the No. 1 dealership in new and certified vehicles along with service in our region,” said Findlay, who also praised the efforts of former general sales manager John Barr, who is now general manager of the dealership.

“John has been the face and voice of Findlay Toyota since the store opened in 1998,” Findlay said. “He has done a tremendous job of rallying the troops and has an incredibly high level of enthusiasm. John and I have collaborated very well during the transitional period.
