NLV police investigate death of pedestrian on Lake Mead
A man was struck and killed Thursday by a vehicle in North Las Vegas.
It’s unclear whether the man was in a marked crosswalk about 7:20 p.m., when the vehicle slammed into him on the 3400 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, near North Pecos Road, North Las Vegas police spokeswoman Ann Cavaricci said.
It was also unclear whether anyone else was injured. Cavaricci could not confirm whether the driver stayed on scene or whether impairment was a factor.
Both Hamler and a female suspect, Jovonna Hollerman, went to the 5300 block of East Craig Road, where they requested medical help, police said. Hamler was taken to University Medical Center with nonlifethreatening injuries, Meltzer said.
Both Hamler and Hollerman were arrested. floors were told to leave their rooms and wait outside while crews assessed the damage.
By about 2:45 a.m., fire investigators determined the fire to be accidental. Szymanski said a woman fell asleep when a lit cigarette on the adjacent nightstand caught her mattress on fire.
By the time fire crews arrived about 1 a.m., the automatic sprinkler system had doused the fire, Szymanski said.
He estimated the damage at $10,000. fire Thursday in the southeast valley, the Clark County Fire Department said.
A caller reported the fire at the two-story home around 1 p.m. Thursday at 9836 Raven Wing Canyon Court, near East Silverado Ranch Boulevard and South Spencer Street, Deputy Fire Chief Kelly Blackmon said in a statement.
Upon arrival, crews called for additional units because of “the high winds and exposures,” according to the statement, which noted that 47 firefighters were at the scene.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
