The 2017 Camry featured in Findlay Toyota’s showroom

-

The Toyota Camry has a rich history and a massive following dating back to its inception in 1982, when it replaced the old Corona model.

From 1982 to 1989, the Camry was more of a compact car before being redesigned into a midsize vehicle, which has been Toyota’s flagship ever since.

With the introduction of the 2017 model now available at Findlay Toyota in the Valley Automall, which was founded in 1998, the Camry is again expected to remain the top-selling vehicle at the dealership.

The latest version of the Camry features either fouror six-cylinder engines. The four-cylinder has 178 horsepower with 170 pounds of torque, while the six-cylinder has 268 horsepower with 248 pounds of torque. Mileage PROMOTIONAL estimates range from an average of 27 miles per gallon, while the hybrids range to 40 city and 37 highway with an average of 38 miles per gallon.

All Camrys come standard with a 6.1-inch touchscreen display, along with the capability of expanding to a 7-inch screen. The standard package includes a backup camera, while the upgrade includes navigation and Siri Eyes Free, which helps with the features for hand-free phones. The upgrade also includes Entune App Suite that features iHeart Radio; www.movietickets. com; and OpenTable, which offers information about restaurants and the ability to make reservations with the push of a button.

Additionally, the package features high-definition radio, traffic and Doppler weather, and the JBL GreenEdge speakers. Also part of the upgrade is Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charger.

Safety features on the 2017 Camry are highlighted by the standard 10 airbags, which include driver and front-passenger knee bags in addition to the normal airbags throughout the vehicle. Also available is the pre-collision system that uses dynamic radar cruise control, a safety feature that detects other vehicles and obstructions. The system first alerts the driver before automatically slowing the vehicle.

“The main reasons for the high sales of the Camry include quality, durability and reliability,” explained Kody Grady, an 18-year employee of Findlay Automotive Group and the dealership’s new car manager. “Those factors keep our former customers coming back for the newer Camrys. We are also seeing an increase of younger buyers.”

Located at 7733 Eastgate Road, Findlay Toyota is part of the Findlay Automotive Group founded in 1961 by the late Pete Findlay, whose son, Cliff, oversees 28 dealerships in Nevada, Idaho, Arizona, Oregon and Utah. The dealership is headed by general manager John Barr.
