Nurse ties record with nine 3s to lead Huskies to Sweet 16

STORRS, Conn. — Kia Nurse scored 29 points and tied an NCAA Tournament record with nine 3-pointers to lead Connecticu­t to a 94-64 win over Syracuse on Monday night in a second-round rematch of last year’s national championsh­ip game.

Nurse hit 10 of her 13 shots, missing three attempts from behind the arc for the Huskies (34-0), who won their 109th straight game and 26th consecutiv­e NCAA Tournament game. That streak includes last April’s 82-51 win over the Orange WOMEN’S NCAA TOURNAMENT (22-11) that gave the Huskies their fourth consecutiv­e title.

■ No. 10 Oregon, No. 2 Duke — At Durham, N.C., Ruthy Hebard had 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Oregon (22-13) earned its first Sweet 16 berth by upsetting Duke (28-6). The Ducks became the first No. 10 seed in a decade to reach the round of 16.

■ No. 3 Washington 108, No. 6 Oklahoma 82 — At Seattle, Kelsey Plum scored 38 points, adding another record to her career resume, and seed Washington (29-5) raced past Oklaho- ma (23-10) to earn a berth in the NCAA Tournament regional semifinals.

■ No. 12 Quinnipiac 85, No. 4 Miami 78 — At Coral Gables, Fla., Morgan Manz scored 22 points and made six 3-pointers, Aryn McClure added 15 and Quinnipiac (29-6) is headed to the Sweet 16 after stunning Miami (24-9).

■ No.4 Louisville 75,No.5Tennessee 64 — At Louisville, Ky., Asia Durr scored 23 points, Mariya Moore made all five 3-pointers for 19 points and Louisville (29-7) beat Tennessee (20-12).

■ No. 2 Stanford 69, No. 7 Kansas State 48 — At Manhattan, Kan., Brittany McPhee had 21 points, Alanna Smith added 19 and Stanford (30-5) routed Kansas State (23-11) to advance to the Cardinal’s 10th straight Sweet 16.

■ No. 1 Baylor 86, No. 9 California 46 — At Waco, Texas, Alexis Prince and Nina Davis each scored 16 points and Baylor (32-3) is going to the Sweet 16 for the ninth year in a row after a win over California (20-14).

■ No. 4 UCLA 75, No. 5 Texas A&M 43 — At Los Angeles, Kari Korver scored 21 points, hitting seven 3-pointers, and UCLA (25-8) routed Texas A&M (22-12) for the Bruins largest margin of victory in school history in a tournament game.
